Poly boys tennis gets new home, new coaches

Poly’s boys tennis team returns to the court with seven returning players and six new members, including two freshmen. Last year, the boys finished their season 6-1 in league, 14-2 overall, and made it to the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs. They enter this season with great anticipation. Last year’s assistant coach, Samuel Kang, has been named this year’s head coach. Kang, with the assistance of the girl’s team coach, Natalie McNall, and new faculty member in the Upper School, Dinh Nguyen, they hope to take this team further this spring. The team has also moved from Pasadena City College and now calls Hermon Courts in Los Angeles their new home. The boys opened their season with a decisive 14-4 win over Maranatha last week. On Wednesday, they faced LaSalle, where they finished 9-9, but losing in games. Today they hope to bounce back as they go head to head with the Tigers from South Pasadena High School at South Pasadena at 3:30 p.m. For direction and details, visit the Athletic Calendar.
