Spring sports nearing the end

This spring season has whizzed by in a blink of an eye, and now we are nearing the end of the season for many sports.

Badminton is currently competing in the league finals. Yesterday they competed in the prelims held at La Puente High School. Five advanced to today’s finals, also at La Puente High School.

Yesterday, boys golf traveled to Brookside Golf Course, where they competed in the season-concluding match, the Prep League individual finals. Senior Nick Foker and junior Charlie Foy finished in the top seven, finishing with All-Prep League honors.

Swimming and diving has been hosting in Prep League finals at the Poly Aquatic Center since Wednesday. Diving started the three-day event, during which juniors Krystal Irwin and Tom Amsbry won the girls and boys event, qualifying them for CIF competition. Senior Morgan Shafia and freshman Ben Smith also qualified for CIF with their dives. Swimming prelims were held Thursday, and both boys and girls teams displayed excellent efforts, advancing them to the finals to be held Saturday at the Poly Aquatics Center. Events start at 2:30 p.m.

Track and field will round out the week, competing in their Prep League finals at John Burroughs High School today at 5 p.m.
