Poly diving three-peat champions

Yesterday, Poly’s diving team took to the pool at the Riverside Aquatics Complex to compete in the CIF-SS Division 3 diving finals. Freshman Ben Smith and junior Tom Amsbry represented the boys team, and juniors Krystal Irwin and Daria Lenz and senior Morgan Shafia represented the girls team. The four upperclassmen were no strangers to the CIF competition. However, this year, the judging seemed to be tougher than in years past. However, that did not slow them down. Amsbry and Lenz both walked away with the title of CIF champions for the third straight year. Smith placed second, Irwin placed third, and Shafia placed 12th. Their brilliant diving scores are a strong start for Poly giving the Panthers’ swim team a good head start as they begin prelims. Poly’s swim team will head to the Riverside Aquatics Complex to begin their CIF competition on Wednesday, May 10, at 4 p.m.
