Rebecca Eaton '65 earns Golden Globe for “Wolf Hall”

Rebecca Eaton '65 recently received the Golden Globe Award for Best Limited Series or TV Film as the producer of Wolf Hall. Eaton, who has served as the executive producer of PBS’s Masterpiece series for more than 30 years, has grown the program significantly and continues to drive its success.

Her passion for great drama and stories has brought countless beloved series to the American public, including Prime Suspect, House of Cards, Sherlock, and Downton Abbey. Prior to Sunday, Masterpiece had already won 54 Primetime Emmy Awards, 15 Peabody Awards, five Golden Globes, and two Academy Award nominations under Eaton's leadership.

Sunday’s award is just one of many honors Eaton has earned in her illustrious career. Eaton was bestowed the esteemed Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II, and in 2011, TIME named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world. She was also the recipient of Poly’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2012.

Soon after, Eaton published Making Masterpiece, reflecting on a quarter-century of working with PBS. The Hollywood Reporter characterized the memoir as “an absorbing tale of what began as just a young girl’s Anglophilia but would eventually change the viewing habits of Americans,” and Andrew Davies of Vanity Fair hailed Eaton as “immortal and immutable.”
