Poly senior Ana Marie Acosta named 96th Rose Queen

Poly senior Ana Marie Acosta was crowned the 96th Rose Queen during a ceremony hosted this evening by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association. According to the Tournament of Roses, Ana was selected from more than 900 Pasadena-area young women who participated in the Royal Court tryouts and were selected based upon a combination of qualities, including public speaking ability, poise, academic achievement, and community involvement.

Ana is the captain of Poly's Varsity equestrian team and a cabinet member of the Girls Service League. She is also a member of the Ambassadors and participates in National Charity League and Girl Scouts, for which she is currently working on her Gold Award. Ana hopes to pursue a career as a surgeon specializing in neurology.

She and the six Rose Princesses will make more than 100 community and media appearances, culminating with the 125th Rose Parade and the 100th Rose Bowl Game in January.
