Back to the Big Screen brings together Ms. Kenny’s AP English Literature: Dramatizing the Human Experience alongside the Poly Mandarin Program for a presentation of the 2006 film, 夜宴 (Legend of the Black Scorpion). Directed by Feng Xiaogang and starring Zhang Ziyi (卧虎藏龙, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) and Daniel Wu (新警察故事, New Police Story), 夜宴 (Legend of the Black Scorpion) is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet set at the end of the Tang Dynasty in a China that is divided.

Back to the Big Screen, a monthly screening series, provides the opportunity for the greater Poly community to experience a selection of cinematic titles in a big screen format in our very own Garland Theater over the course of the academic year. This chance to revisit titles that we may have never seen on the big screen will encompass the screening of a select film of relevance followed by moderated discussion among those in attendance at each evening event.
