Boys Varsity Water Polo Wins Prep League

The Boys Varsity Water Polo team ended their regular season last week by beating Brentwood High School and securing the outright Prep League Championship.

“Winning the Prep League this year is the accumulation of the hard work and commitment put in by the team,” Assistant Coach Ryan Rodriguez said. “All season, we have stressed to the boys that our goal is to strive to play at the highest level possible and that winning is a byproduct of playing at that high level. With this understanding, the boys had a stellar regular season, going 8-0 in league play and 22-3 in the regular season.”

Outside of the work and commitment put in by all players, the team has been led by a group of seniors who have changed the culture of the program. “Our team culture starts with all of our seniors who have experienced the growing pains necessary to have a final season such as this one. Without such a remarkable senior class, who has had a tremendous impact on our culture, it is hard to envision having the same success,” said Coach Rodriguez.

The Panthers are the third seed in the CIF-SS Division 3 playoff bracket. They are hosting Fountain Valley High School today, October 31, at 4:00 p.m. at the Poly Aquatics Center.
