Poly’s Boys Water Polo is Off to a Strong Start

This fall, Poly’s boys water polo team is, once again, able to take to the pool. The boys are excited to get back in the water, working diligently. The newcomers have inherited the work ethic and excitement of the veterans making for a very promising season.

They opened the season against Mark Keppel, outscoring the Aztecs 13-4. Hosted in the Poly Aquatics Center, the home team prepared for their Invitational Tournament. After dropping their first game, the Panthers quickly bounced back, defeating South Pasadena High School and La Canada High School giving the Panthers a third-place finish. First Year student Theodore K. ’25 earned an All-Tournament selection for his excellent play throughout the weekend.

The momentum kept going this week when the Poly boys water polo team faced another non-league opponent, Arcadia High School on Tuesday, August 31. After the Panthers and Apaches exchanged goals throughout the four quarters, the Panthers were the ones to pull away with a 14-11 victory.

Finally, the team closes the week against Burbank High School. The Panthers host the Burbank Bulldogs in the Poly Aquatics Center on Friday, Sept. 3. Varsity plays at 3:45 p.m. with JV to follow at 4:45 p.m.

Wish them luck as they look to continue their win streak.
Go, Panthers!
