Poly’s Dance Team and Mascots Return to Cheer Camp

At the end of July, Poly’s dance team and mascots had the opportunity to return to cheer camp. After missing out in 2020, the team enjoyed a touch of normalcy this summer as they traveled to the Great Wolf Lodge in Garden Grove for 2021 Cheer Camp. They learned new routines and picked up new skills including six new dances and several cheers. It was a successful weekend for the team.

The team received a plaque and superior ribbons for two routines they performed in front of the entire camp. They also received the Spirit Award and came home with the esteemed Spirit Stick awarded to the team with the best attitude. Also, six members of the team participated in the All-American tryouts where they performed a newly learned dance routine in front of hundreds of peers.

Reese Y. ’23 was awarded the title of All-American and was invited to perform in London at the United Spirit Association Nationals. Coach Marianne Davis said, “I am beyond proud of this team. For the accolades, sure, but mostly for their ability to push themselves, take critique, and demonstrate an enormous amount of growth in such a short time.”

Congratulations to the dance team on a successful summer! Athletics looks forward to the Poly spirit they will bring back to campus this fall.
