PolyToday: Seventh grade show

Seventh-graders performed last week as the culminating activity for the Theatre classes, Tech Theatre, Dance classes, and Percussion Ensemble.
In Theatre, students spent the first half of the semester working on improvisation, character analysis, text work, and developing their vocal and physical skills. The second half was devoted to the rehearsal and performance of the short play, "10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse." Members of the class took turns playing all the roles and focused on comic timing and stage combat to prepare for the performance.
In Dance this semester, students improved their dance technique and learned two group dances in hip hop and contemporary styles. Student choreography resulted in solos, duets and small group pieces in the styles of lyrical, hip hop, jazz, and contemporary.
Seventh-grade students in the Percussion Ensemble had a chance to learn basic to intermediate percussion ensemble technique on a variety of instruments from the percussion family.
Tech Theatre supports both in terms of set pieces, properties, lights, and sound.
