Poly’s equestrian team places in team season opener

After a successful season last year finishing fifth out of 81 schools, Poly’s equestrian team has their sights set on another strong season. Last week, the team competed in the season’s first Interscholastic Equestrian League (IEL) competition held at the Hansen Dam Horse Park. Poly had riders in both the JV and Varsity divisions. Sophomores Margaret Sweeney and Taryn Chadwick placed 14th and 18th in their division. Seventh-grader Grace Russo earned overall champion for hunter/jumper/equitation. Poly riders also swept first, second, and third places in the JV equitation class. Junior Brooklyn Harris and sophomore Anna McConnell were the Poly riders in the Varsity division. Their next competition will be Jan. 12, 2020, at Hansen Dam Horse Park.
