Girls basketball starts strong

Poly’s girls Varsity basketball team started their season last Friday, traveling to San Marino High School to face the Titans on their home court. The Panthers came home with their first win to open the season, defeating the Titans 36-33. Yesterday the Panthers took on Notre Dame Academy in their first game of the 2018 Pioneer Girls Basketball Shootout tournament hosted by Providence High School in Burbank. It was a great match-up with another close score of 39-32 in Poly’s favor. This 2-0 start is great momentum as they go into their second match-up of the tournament against John Burroughs High School of the Burbank Unified School District tonight at 8 p.m. The Panthers return six members from last year’s squad, including lone senior, Alexis Pappachan. Under her leadership and the experience of the returners, the Panthers look ahead to a successful season.
