Poly Athletics stays active in the summer

Poly’s teams do not stop with the conclusion of the school year. Many teams train through the summer, keeping in mind the three-week CIF-mandated dead period. You can find the football team, girls basketball team, and the water polo teams training early in the morning before summer school begins. Girls volleyball hits the court mid-morning, while boys and girls soccer, as well as boys volleyball, gather in the afternoons. Many of these teams are also competing in summer leagues to continue to improve their skills and to work on teamwork. Boys and girls basketball, football, and water polo all get a chance to face an opponent before their seasons begin. Football and girls volleyball will conclude their summer training early in order to comply with the CIF-mandated three-week dead period before their return to campus early August. The cross country team is taking a unique approach taking their three-week dead period early so they can continue their training without interruption. Although each team is different, many of them stay active during the summer months.
