League competitions continue for spring sports

Poly’s track and field team will travel to Burroughs High School this afternoon to compete in the Prep League track and field finals. It is the most exciting meet of the season as all the Prep League schools all come together. Poly’s boys team is a top contender with seniors Xian Shively and Haller Rice leading the way. Shively’s record-breaking run earlier this month will give him the momentum he needs to continue to lead the pack. Rice intends to push his personal record in the long jump and raise the bar in his event. Poly’s girls team will have to battle against the strong teams from Flintridge, Chadwick, and Mayfield.

Poly’s badminton team competed in the Montview League prelims yesterday and advanced four athletes to the finals today. One boys doubles team and two boys singles will return to Nogales High School today to compete in the finals. Poly was also able advance one girls doubles team as well.

Panthers’ diving team competed in the Prep League finals yesterday afternoon in the Poly Aquatic Center. Poly’s diving team dominated the field. The girls team swept the board, taking first, second, and third. Freshman Sophie McAfee took first, and seniors Daria Lenz and Krystal Irwin took second and third. Poly’s swimming team will compete in the Prep League finals tomorrow, April 28. Events start at 2:30 p.m.
