Student Community Engagement

Polytechnic School believes that appreciation for the communities in which we live is an integral part of being an educated citizen. To this end, the Student Community Engagement Program provides Poly’s Middle School and Upper School students opportunities to develop responsibility, understanding, and a connection to the community outside the school.

Student Engagement Requirements

  • 9th grade: Minimum of 8 hours of off-campus community engagement
  • 10th-11th grade: Minimum of 30 hours; 20 hours to be done at one off-campus organization
  • 12th grade: All 12th graders participate in off-campus senior-week community activities; A majority remain involved in community engagement throughout the year inspiring younger students to follow in their footsteps.

Poly uses the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a framework for students to ground their community engagement work. The 17 goals address the global challenges we face
in hopes of achieving a better and more sustainable future for all.
