On Tuesday, March 7, Poly’s Aquatic Center witnessed history. Poly’s swimming and diving team hosted Rosemead in a league meet where the standing 200 Freestyle Relay was broken. The standing school record for this race was 1:28.90 made in 2009 with Andrew Saeta ’09, Blaine Ohigashi ’09, Nathan Min ’10, and Tommy Gilfillan ’09. Last Tuesday, this school record was beaten with a time of 1:28.80, with Michael M. ’24 starting the relay, Nathan T. ’23 in the second leg, Patrick S. ’24 in the third leg, and Oliver M. ’25 to finish it off. Michael M. had a strong start setting the tone for the team. Nathan T. had a quick exchange keeping the pace up for the next two legs. All four members showed great technique and had strong finishes strong into the wall. These attributes led the team to their record-breaking performance taking down the 14-year-old record. Congratulations!
