Lily K. and Caroline P. Music Center’s Spotlight Semi-Finalists

Seniors Lily K. and Caroline P. have advanced to the semifinals of The Music Center’s Spotlight competition, Lily in classical voice and Caroline in non-classical voice. Nationally recognized, Spotlight provides students with both performing arts scholarships and artistic development through expert advice, coaching, auditions, and mastery classes taught by professional artists and arts administrators. $100,000 is awarded in cash scholarships to students each year,  and they also offer personalized feedback, mastery classes with world-renowned artists, performing arts workshops, and more.

“I've been participating in Spotlight since freshman year and this is the first year that I have advanced to the semi-finals, so it is a huge honor,” said Caroline. “It always feels good when one's hard work and commitment to the craft are recognized, especially by accomplished professionals in the field. I will be attending the University of Michigan for Musical Theatre, and plan to make the move to New York after I graduate to audition and work in the theater industry. I also have a passion for producing and am equally excited at the prospect of pursuing a career on the business side of theatre, or maybe even TV!”

Lily reflected, "This is my second year participating in Spotlight, but my first time as a semi-finalist. I was shocked that I advanced to this level just because for the past two years, I have been singing with my voice teacher online. It is really rewarding to know that I have grown as an artist despite the pandemic. I am still not too sure what I want to be when I grow up, but I definitely know that music has to be involved somehow. Music has been a part of my life since I was 5, so it’s hard to imagine a life without it."
