On Oct. 6, the Student Athlete Leadership Council (SALC) hosted its third annual College Sports Night, featuring three NCAA coaches and two Poly collegiate athletes. The group shared insights into playing a collegiate sport to an audience of Poly student-athletes and students from other schools. In light of COVID-19, the group emphasized how playing a collegiate sport has changed, especially the recruiting process. The recruiting process now focuses on the importance of video recruiting in lieu of coaches previously attending practices and games to scout future talent. Coaches also gave tips on how to stand out when communicating in email and other forms of correspondence. The event was led by Poly’s cross country head coach Rick Caragher who encouraged meaningful and informative conversations throughout the evening.
If you missed the event, the Zoom recording will soon be available on the Athletics homepage.
