Breaking records

The seasons for many of Poly’s spring teams have come to an end, leaving baseball, softball, and individuals from track and field still participating in the post-season. Some of Poly’s spring student-athletes had some exceptional performances this season. In the pool, senior Susannah Laster set a school record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.38 and in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:03.46, earning her the CIF Division 3 championship in that event. Classmate Grace Carey also broke records in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.06 and 100-yard freestyle in 52.64. Fellow senior Tom Amsbry broke the boys diving record, finishing with a score of 514.6 and a CIF Division 3 championship as well. Senior Xian Shively broke records on the track this year, with a time of 4:18.80 in the 1600m race. Other outstanding performances include golfer Charlie Foy ’18 reaching the regional qualifiers in golf and boys badminton player Albert Lu ’19 making it to the final round in the CIF playoffs for the first time in school history.
