Surviving The Dinosaurs - Teamwork through the video game ARK
Teacher: Michael Minto
Session(s): 3 weeks/ Session 1 or 2
Days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Time: 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Using the game "ARK: Survival Evolved" the instructor will lead the team of students on a digital adventure of survival, crafting, and taming of various dinosaur species in the world of ARK. Similar to Minecraft, this game involves resource collection and building of a home-base, weapons, and supplies. The world is occupied by dangerous and friendly dinosaurs that can either be fought, ran away from, or tamed and ridden by the players. Each day will involve the students working together in a collaborative and supportive environment to overcome the difficulties of surviving in this imaginary world. The instructor will lead them on missions ranging from constructing a base that has everything they need to survive, as well as adventures to find and retrieve rare treasures, or hunt and capture powerful dinosaurs and creatures. This course requires the students to own or have access to the game on Steam, a computer that can effectively run the game, and a high-speed internet connection to play with the class. I ask that the parents please review the game's contents to ensure that they approve of the content before registration.
