AP Art paints en plein air

AP Art class took to Arden lawn to do some plein air painting this morning. The 15 students are working on their first Breadth portfolio assignment in AP Studio Art (Drawing) and AP Studio Art (2-D Design). The theme for the portfolio is a landscape in oils focusing on light, inspired by the work of the Impressionists.

The Breadth portfolio is one of three portfolios the AP Art students work on during the year representing an exploration of a variety of materials, techniques, and themes. Ella Young '13, a recent Poly graduate, credits the AP Art program for helping her create a significant body of work which she submitted in the college application process. As she remarked in a recent interview, "The AP Art program was integral to building up my portfolio and giving me a substantial body of work to apply to art schools and to college, which was important."
