PolyToday: Class of 2028 Completes a Cup Stacking Challenge

The rules seem simple at first glance. Place six cups in the prescribed arrangements. Collaborate as a group. Then the unique obstacle dawns on the students: there is no direct touching of the cups—either the supplied rubber band or pipe cleaner has to do the work. Two pages in, and the challenges have even tougher restrictions. One hand per teammate, and the work must be completed in silence. Well, except for the giggling.

The objectives of working together as a team towards a goal, improving verbal and nonverbal communication skills, and exploring and implementing various problem-solving techniques were achieved, and seventh-grade science sprang to life. It is thrilling to see our Science classes back in session.
