Girls Volleyball Three-Peat at Poly Invitational Tournament

On August 20, Poly’s Girls Varsity Volleyball team hosted the 32nd annual Poly Invitational Volleyball Tournament. Eight teams filled both Gamble and Scott Gyms all day on Saturday including Beverly Hills High School, Crescenta Valley High School, Maranatha School, Paraclete School, Ramona Convent, San Gabriel High School, and San Marino High School.

The format of the tournament was two four-team pools that competed in pool play games in the best two out of three set matches. The fourth-placed teams from each pool played against each other, as did the third-placed teams and the second-place teams. The first-place teams competed against each other in the tournament championship match. This year, the two first-place teams were Poly and Crescenta Valley.

After going undefeated, Poly and Crescenta Valley faced off for the title of Poly Invitational Champions. It was a well-fought match. Poly had a rocky start in comparison to how they played earlier in the day and found themselves in an early deficit to the Falcons. The Panthers quickly found their footing and pulled ahead. The Panthers finished beating the Falcons in two straight sets 25-22, 25-21 earning the Tournament Championship for the third year in a row. All-Tournament honors were awarded to Caroline H. ’25 and Bekah H. ’23, and Emily W. ’23 earned tournament MVP.
