Global Scholars attend briefing with former US Ambassador Samantha Power

Recently 10 Global Scholars from Poly and six from PUSD attended a briefing for high school students and luncheon with Samantha Power, former U.S. ambassador to the UN, which was sponsored by the Los Angeles World Affairs Council and Town Hall. Students had the opportunity to ask Ambassador Powers about her career in journalism and diplomacy, as well as her thoughts on current geopolitical issues. All came away feeling empowered and inspired with a signed copy of her most recent biography, "The Education of an Idealist." The group relished in the opportunity to hear about Ambassador Power's insights into the current war in Syria, the U.S.'s and the United Nations' responses to genocide, and exploring ways to reach across the aisle.
