CIF State Academic Championships
On May 21, the Athletics Department reported the following story on four teams earning the CIF-SS Academic Championships. Last week, all four teams were also named CIF State Academic Champions. Congrats to these teams for earning the highest GPAs in the category of schools with the enrollment of 1,500 or less in the entire state of California. Poly Athletics not only takes pride in our student-athletes on their field of play, but in the classroom as well. Four teams were honored yesterday at Angels Stadium for winning the 2019 CIF-SS Academic Championships for schools with the enrollment of 1,500 or less. Varsity football won for the fourth consecutive year with an overall GPA of 3.68, 13th overall academic championship. Boys Varsity basketball won their second consecutive and second overall academic championship with an overall GPA of 3.86. Varsity softball won their sixth overall academic championship with an overall GPA of 3.90. Girls Varsity water polo won their third consecutive, fifth overall academic championship with an impressive 3.93 overall team GPA. These four teams also made it into the playoffs during their season, proving their strength on and off the field. Congratulations!
