After weeks of getting to know their violins and cellos, Poly third-graders reached an exciting milestone last week: making music! Through lively games, playful challenges, and plenty of laughter, students have been learning the parts of their instruments, practicing proper posture and bow holds, and discovering a whole new musical vocabulary, including the all-important “down bow.” Last week the students put bow to string and heard their instruments come to life. The reactions were priceless. “Awesome!” exclaimed one student. “It felt like I was in heaven,” said another. And perhaps the most enthusiastic response of all: “I have been waiting my entire life to do this!”
