Letter from John Bracker, Head of School

Today, I am writing to share that I plan to retire as Head of School at the conclusion of the 2027–2028 school year. Serving Poly has been an enormous privilege for me. I believe this is the right moment to share my plans—not because the work feels finished, but because Poly is in a strong position to look ahead with confidence. Announcing my retirement now gives our Board of Trustees ample time to plan thoughtfully for the transition, while giving all of us time to focus on the exciting work still ahead.

Letter from Alec Hudnut, Board Chair

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to acknowledge John’s decision to retire as Head of School on June 30, 2028, and express our profound gratitude for his continued leadership and commitment to Poly.

John joined Poly in 2014 as our 10th Head of School, becoming part of a long tradition of leaders entrusted with stewarding this remarkable institution. Over the past 12 years, he has preserved the strong foundation laid by those who came before him while providing a steady hand through some of our school’s most challenging moments.
