In Paul Johnson and Dr. Alex Lessie’s Crisis and Diplomacy block, Middle School students began by creating their own governments: What will they be called? What will they stand for? Then came the crises. Each week, the teachers introduce a new challenge, and the student governments must decide how to respond, negotiate, and protect their interests. It’s a clever way to explore government and diplomacy: give students a country, throw them a curveball, and let the negotiations begin.
