Varsity Boys Soccer Clinches Second CIF Championship in a Row
Congratulations to Poly’s Varsity Boys Soccer team for defeating the Palmdale Academy Charter School Jaguars to become back-to-back CIF-SS Division 7 champions!
Impactful play from Poly team captain Joe B. '26, Momo T. '27, Warren P. ‘26, and freshman Rudy C. ‘29, gave the Panthers confidence for an epic win versus a tough opponent.
On February 28, Poly’s Varsity Boys Soccer team defeated the Palmdale Academy Charter School Jaguars in a 3–0 shutout. The Panther squad, as the incumbent CIF-SS Division 7 champions, took the field with a back-to-back championship on the line.
It was 0-0 at the end of the first half, and it was anyone’s game. Poly senior and team captain Joe B. '26 gave the Panthers momentum and confidence with less than 15 minutes left in the second half. With a well-timed pass from Joe, Poly forward Momo T. '27 had a strong finish to secure Poly’s first point of the game.
The gauntlet was down; Poly’s goal was the first that Palmdale had conceded since the start of post-season play. Also, Poly’s strong backline kept the Jaguars’ offense from finding the back of the Panthers net for the entire game.
Poly’s second goal was tapped in by senior midfielder Warren P. ‘26 with another assist from Joe B. ‘26, who was playing in his first playoff game after suffering a serious ankle injury that had him sidelined.
With only two minutes left in the game, Poly’s third goal came from freshman Rudy C. ‘29 from an assist from none other than Joe B. ‘26. This secured a comfortable win for Poly!
Congratulations to Poly’s Varsity Boys Soccer team for another well-deserved CIF championship and for capping off a successful season where teamwork was paramount.
