AP United States History students turned the Upper School Library into a research symposium as they presented their junior projects to peers and faculty. Members of the Class of 2027 investigated topics of their choice, all centered on a shared question: When has power been contested, renegotiated, or reinforced in U.S. history? The research projects spanned eras prior to 2016 and explored themes including workers’ rights, government and corporate power, property rights, women’s liberation, the separation of church and state, the desegregation of the armed forces, and the use of negative political advertising, among many more. Together, the presentations highlighted students’ critical thinking, research skills, and ability to connect historical inquiry to enduring questions of power.
