PolyToday: Latine/x Heritage Month Activities in Sixth Grade
Middle School meets twice a week during FLEx, an opportunity for students and faculty to collaborate on a variety of interesting topics. Recently, sixth-graders have been rotating through activities designed to deepen their understanding of Latine/x history, culture, and identity while recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month. The rotations included the following topics: Music from Latin America,1968 East LA Student Walkouts, Maya Codices, and "Como La Flor: Diversity in the Latinx/e Community." Through these sessions, students not only celebrate but also learn about the diverse experiences, contributions, and voices that shape Latine/x heritage.
