On the same day the 100th Newbery Medals were announced, Poly's own Newbery reading challenge began in the Lower School. Each class in fourth and fifth grade is a team and will compete to earn the most points by reading Newbery winners and books with Newbery honors. The winning class will get a movie watch party, and a separate prize will be awarded to the student who earns the most points from reading Newbery books (points are based on the length of the book). The challenge will last until spring break. The excitement of the fifth-graders in the library today was palpable. Happy reading, everyone!
