Poly Pet & Hobby Show will take place on Friday, May 1st
from noon to 3pm on the field and in both gyms. This annual event, which began in 1917 as only a pet show, now includes student hobby displays, carnival-style game booths, student organization booths, and plenty of food. Over the years, this community building event has featured an assortment of attractions including Mickey Mouse as Grand Marshall, a two-mile-long rubber band chain, pet submissions of a monkey and a miniature alligator, and, of course, the ever-popular dog show. Initially, only pure-bred dogs were allowed entry, but in 1970, the contest was opened to all dogs.
This year, along with the usual game booths, hobby displays, dog show, food, and music, the show will focus on sustainability and service learning, with students directing the efforts of their class service learning projects. There will also be a dance area with a DJ, basketball games, and special activities designed with the youngest children in mind. Be sure to mark your calendars for this fun-filled event. We will see all of you out on the field!
