Upper School gets visit from Poly parent and JPL engineer Dr. Ashitey Trebi-Ollennu

Lower School parent Dr. Ashitey Trebi-Ollennu spoke with some of the Upper School’s biggest science enthusiasts last week. As chief engineer of robotics at JPL, Dr. Trebi-Ollennu directs the teams that design robots for NASA missions — including the Mars Rover and InSight projects — which means the logistics of new scientific discoveries are in his hands every day. During both an open lunch hosted by the Poly Student Science Organization and a discussion with Jack Prater’s Engineering class, Dr. Trebi-Ollennu sparked students’ fascination and curiosity, qualities he said were the most valuable attributes for members of his engineering teams to have. The students naturally backed up his conjecture that Poly students are already most of the way there, as they willingly demonstrated their ability to articulate good questions!
