Poly Alumni Association nominates 2019 Distinguished Alumnus - Ini Archibong '01

We are pleased to announce that Ini Archibong ’01 is Polytechnic School’s Distinguished Alumnus of 2019. Ini has moved rapidly to the forefront of his generation of designers. His work is characterized by a deep interest in master-craftsmanship and its intrinsic relationship to technology – both modern and ancient. Taking inspiration from architecture, environmental and product design, and his lifelong passions for mathematics, philosophy, and world religions, Ini applies his vision and methods across a wide range of disciplines with diverse clients from around the world including venerable brands such as Hermès, de Sede, Bernhardt Design, Ruinart, Christofle, and Vacheron Constantin.

The son of Nigerian immigrants to the United States, Ini was born and raised in Pasadena, where he attended Poly and the Art Center College of Design. After living and working in Singapore and traveling, he moved to Switzerland to pursue further studies in luxury design and craftsmanship and received a master’s degree from the prestigious École Cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ECAL).

Ini’s work has been exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery in Pasadena, Triode in Paris, and the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi in Milan. He has received various awards at ICFF, Neocon, Wanted Design, and the World Expo 2105 in Milan. He is collaborating with Sé Collections in London, the Friedman Benda Gallery in New York, and the Dallas Museum of Art. Ini now lives and works in Neuchatel, Switzerland.

To celebrate the Distinguished Alumnus Award, Head of School John Bracker and the Alumni Association will invite Ini back to campus for a visiting day and a dinner in his honor this fall.
