Course description: This course focuses on the different inspiring activists of color who pushed for social and political change in our society and across the globe. Many people are aware of the major change makers in U.S. history, but it takes leaders of all different walks of life to make a movement. During this class, students will learn about movements from different time periods as they occurred across the globe simultaneously. Students will be assigned articles and videos throughout the course about different major movements throughout time and contributors to that movement, and then discuss the impact these people had on society through group dialogue and independent research. During the third week, students will present on a figure that inspired them and build connections to present day issues.
