Mail Art DIY Envelopes and Cards: Intermediate 5-9
Teacher: Catharine Stebbins
Session(s): 3 weeks/ Session 1 only
Days: Tuesday and Thursday
Time: 8:30 am - 9:55 am
Expand your creative skills learning pop-ups, folds, and booklets to create intricate Mail Art cards and envelopes. Mail art began in the 1960’s and today is a global movement that promotes interconnection between makers by sharing handmade small-scale works through the mail. This class is for students who attended Mail Art with Miss Stebbins Summer 2020** and anyone who likes a fun creative challenge. Utilizing materials readily available at home, found materials, paper, collage, recycled objects, stamps, etc., students will create cards, address and stamp the envelopes, and then mail the mini artworks to each other. This class is perfect for makers who want to take their card design skills to the next level and use their own creative expression to interpret the weekly theme.
This class is synchronous, and students are expected to be present (barring technical difficulties) and actively participating for the whole class period. An atmosphere of trust, mutual support, and social engagement will be encouraged!
Materials and Supplies: No supplies fee required - all projects can be made from regular household and office materials. Enrolled students will receive a supplies ideas list. **with teacher approval 1-4th grade 2020 Summer Mail Art students.
