PolyToday: Eighth-grade Speech Contest

What happens when 72 eighth graders are asked to take a stand? You get a room full of ideas, and a few unforgettable voices. Several weeks ago, these students chose topics and then researched, wrote, and memorized their speeches. They then delivered their talks to audiences of peers and three teachers; semi-finalists and those chosen for the final rounds addressed a panel of judges. The finalists spoke eloquently and passionately last Friday in front of a panel of invited judges and the entire Middle School about their chosen topics.

After thoughtful (and difficult) deliberation, the judges announced a winner.
