The Paw Print Kicks Off the Year with Los Angeles Times Journalists

The Paw Print, Poly’s Upper School student newspaper, kicked off the school year with its annual BBQ on Aug. 20—including a visit from two journalists from the Los Angeles Times.

Investigative journalist Paul Pringle and entertainment writer and audience editor David Viramontes joined The Paw Print editors for a conversation about journalism before meeting with the full staff of student writers. The journalists shared insights from their professional experiences, answered questions, and offered encouragement to the next generation of reporters.

After the discussions, Pringle and Viramontes stayed on campus to mingle with student leaders and members of The Paw Print staff during the annual kickoff BBQ.

The gathering offered a meaningful way for students to connect with working journalists while celebrating the start of another year of student-powered reporting at Poly. We can't wait to read the first issue!
