PolyGlobal Scholar Ethan H. ’26 brought several days of thoughtful, engaging discussion to the Class of 2031. Inspired by a PolyGlobal trip to Berlin, his capstone project explored Messages of Monuments: How Communities Remember the Past. Working in small groups, students in Mr. Johnson’s World Geography and Cultures classes researched monuments and shared their findings. The conversations that followed explored which histories are elevated, which are omitted, and what makes a monument controversial. To close the experience, Ethan invited students to become creators themselves, providing art materials and asking them to design monuments that reflect what they believe should be remembered.
