Junior Orchestra students recently had the opportunity to work with Richard Meyer, a nationally respected string educator, composer, and clinician.
During the clinic, Meyer offered practical insights while leading students through their music with energy, humor, and encouragement. As the orchestra quickly discovered, it is nearly impossible to keep a straight face around him. His enthusiasm for music is infectious.
The visit comes at just the right moment. Next Tuesday, the Junior Orchestra will participate in the SCSBOA Festival, sponsored by the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association. The event allows student ensembles to perform for judges and receive professional feedback on their work. Meyer's clinic offered timely guidance and a welcome boost of confidence as students prepare for the performance.
