It has been 17 years since the Varsity girls tennis team has won a CIF-SS championship. That all changed this morning when the Panthers defeated Valencia 10-8 at the Claremont Club in a match that had everyone on the edge of their seats. The girls jumped out to a quick two-set lead after the first round and maintained it going into the final round at 7-5. Valencia battled back to tie the match at 8-all, before Poly’s last two doubles teams won their two sets to clinch the title. The girls tennis team won their fifth CIF championship in program history and Poly’s 33rd team championship overall.
