  • All Hands on Deck - Critical Thinking and Surviving Skills

    Did you know that you can make a compass using a paperclip and a magnet? Or an oven out of cardboard and foil? Do you like searching for treasure? All Hands on Deck is a class that helps young learners hone critical thinking and survival skills. Each day, students will learn about a different facet of surviving in the outdoors. Along the way, they will develop self-confidence, independence, and an increased awareness of their surroundings while learning how to engage with the world in new, exciting, and practical ways.
    Among other activities, students will be building, braiding, fixing, identifying, measuring, and navigating, all while learning practical and gratifying new skills to traverse life’s twists and turns more thoughtfully, gracefully and thoroughly.
    Each day, students will spend an hour with their teacher learning new concepts, working on projects, and synthesizing what has been covered in the class. A box of supplies will be sent to the household of each student, with each day’s activity individually labeled.
  • Around the World Cultural Celebrations K-2

    Students will explore the globe through a combination of regional and culturally specific literature and tactile activities. Each class will focus on a different continent or region. After an overview of the region (language, location, animals, holidays, and more), we will read cultural stories or folktales, and complete a corresponding tactile activity.

    The class structure will be a class meeting and group share, lesson time, discussion, craft/activity instruction, guided work time for the activity or craft, and a closing circle to wrap up the day. Students are expected to have basic motor skills in order to complete tactile activities. Ms. Pyle will be online with your students for the entire hour.
  • Blastoff into Outer Space K-4

    If your child is one who is attracted to or loves the study of outer space, consider signing him or her up for this fun in the galaxy course. Students will identify the planets in the Earth's solar system, learn about astronauts, and apply science technology and engineering skills in project based learning. This unique course will provide students in grades K-4 with an educational opportunity to explore and learn about Space. They will participate in projects that foster curiosity and confidence while exploring Outer Space. We will inspire and encourage kids to ask questions about the world around them and point them toward the tools they’ll need to investigate. Hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and projects bring new concepts to life as students work collaboratively to solve problems. During this course, we strive to support children to think creatively and critically about their developing understanding of their world. This class will be taught via Zoom in the comfort of your home or yard with large and small group instruction. (sample class structure below). After step by step instruction the students will work on a variety of projects and/or activities that incorporate a blend of in-class and out of class assignments. Small group/breakout rooms will be created to facilitate community connection, opportunity for participation, sense of adventure and fun. Students are expected to log into Zoom sessions daily. A rocket ship of materials will arrive at your home to support you in your mission.

  • Build-a-Bear Reading K-3

    Calling all bears! Join an enriching and fun-filled class that brings our favorite books to life while working on reading and comprehension skills as you transition into the next grade. Embark on a journey with Tajar, a mystical magical friend of Ms. Fernandez and your own bear that you get to stuff, adopt and love forever. With special twin t-shirts that you will design for you and your bear, the magic of reading and writing will soon come to life. This will be a journey that will forever be remembered. Each student will become an author and illustrator as they decorate their journal and write creative stories to go along with what they read. Join us for an enriching, entertaining and fun-filled session! Educational benefits and objectives: Students taking this course will learn to appreciate the love of reading in this relaxing, nurturing Zoom filled environment. We will take each child from where they are in reading and get them excited about the love of words and print. If they are just learning to read or if they have been reading since the age of two, this course is sure to help them on their journey with books. It is a course designed to fire children up for reading as they gain self-confidence while learning the necessary skills to enrich their reading experience. Students will come out of this course with a stronger vocabulary, knowing more sight words, and a better understanding of story lines. The students will write about the beginning, middle and end of a story with a plot and characters. How do you plan to run the class? This class will be taught via Zoom in the comfort of your home, on the front porch or in your back yard with large and small group instruction. (sample class structure below). After step by step instruction the students will work on a variety of reading assignments and activities that incorporate a blend of in-class and out of class learning. Small group/breakout rooms will be created to facilitate community connection, opportunity for participation, sense of adventure and fun. Students are expected to log into Zoom sessions daily. A basket full of supplies will arrive at your home to support the student in their magical journey through Tajar Town.

  • Home Sweet Habitat K-2

    Students will gain an understanding of different habitats through a combination of books, short videos, discussions, and hands-on activities. Each day, we will explore a different biome, including the rainforest, desert, ocean, and more! Students will learn about animals, temperatures, plant life, and distinct features of each.

    The class structure will be a class meeting and group share, lesson time, discussion, craft/activity instruction, guided work time for the activity or craft, and a closing circle to wrap up the day. Students are expected to have basic motor skills in order to complete tactile activities. Ms. Pyle will be online with your students for the entire hour.
  • It’s a Different Craft Every Day! K-1

    We will have fun as we learn together and complete together easy, stress-free craft projects, a new craft every class! Emphasis will be on using simple every day materials in a new way. The class structure will be a class circle, guided craft/activity instruction, time for the activity or craft, and a closing circle where we show each other our work. Students are expected to have basic motor skills like cutting, holding a pencil, paintbrush. Ms.Veerle will be online with the students the entire class time.
     
  • Kid Biz K-4

    Have you ever thought about creating your own business in a real-world environment? Ever wished you knew the wonders of how to create products that will make others happy? Developing a business, earning cash, saving, and donating to worthy causes are key components to our Kid Biz class. The Financial Literacy class will be filled with an abundance of activities that will take you on a journey to be remembered!! Each child will work on a team and create a business that they can develop and share with others. In this course, students will get into small groups, according to the businesses of interest, come up with a plan of what they would like to sell and create a budget. They will fill out an application, elect Vice Presidents (of marketing, finance, publicity), and elect their CEO. In addition, students will also work with a Graphic Designer and create their own company logo. Some of the companies they could develop might be a Beverage Bar, Bakery Business, T-Shirt Company, and other creative possibilities. Join us for a session of fun and adventure. Educational Benefits and Objectives ~ The skills students can develop through this course is to lead with confidence, use good critical thinking skills, understand and value teamwork, and become financially responsible. Each company will work with a banker from Wells Fargo and also local business owners to assist with business plans and strategies on how to run a successful business. This class will be taught via Zoom in the comfort of your home with large and small group instruction. (sample class structure below). After step by step instruction the students will work on a variety of projects and/or activities that incorporate a blend of in-class and out of class assignments. Small group/breakout rooms will be created to facilitate community connection, opportunity for participation, sense of adventure and fun. Students are expected to log into Zoom sessions daily. A treasure chest of supplies will arrive at your home to support the student in their business venture.

  • Letter Crafts with Kinders!

    Join us on a journey as we begin to learn the letters and sounds of the alphabet. Each day we will focus on a letter and sound to give students an introduction to the alphabet. Students will complete one craft a day and turn each letter of the alphabet into an animal or object. Students will also sing and dance as we learn each letter and sound.
    Our class will meet daily on Zoom for 30 minutes. Within that time we will complete each letter craft and also sing and dance along to various songs of the alphabet. Kindergarten students are still learning fine motor skills and cutting may take some effort. In order to help, some materials are precut in order to allow students to spend more time focusing on the letter of the day.

    Math Busters to the rescue!! Amuse yourself through the number one roller coaster ride of math!! If your journey in math has been too fast, slow, up and down, or new this is the ride for you. Calling all adventurous and inventive mathematicians. A Strong math foundation is the key to grasping higher-level math concepts. This course is designed to help develop mathematical strengths as it introduces numbers and enforces instant recall of math facts. Through the journey of this course, students will gain an understanding of the addition and subtraction families, increase their knowledge and understanding of multiplication as repeated addition and identify division facts and its relationship to multiplication. We will also increase speed and accuracy of basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. Join us in a math fact lab created by our own math team. Yes, that is each of you! We will design the space to help bring math facts to life in an exciting and creative way. Come hone in on your myth busting skills through a variety of action-packed activities using flashcards, board games, game shows, water balloons and much more! With math facts galore you will enter the next grade prepared with a better understanding of facts. Join us for weeks of wonder, as you become a certified math fact buster! Learn the secret behind understanding math facts and become a whiz at using number bonds. You will create your own math fact book full of interesting ways of learning. Educational benefits and objectives: This course is structured to meet each child from where they are in their journey of learning math facts and move them forward. If they find learning math facts challenging or if they excel and just need practice, this course is sure to provide a hands-on approach to learning and understanding facts. It is a course designed to fire children up and keep them excited about math facts as they gain self-confidence, speed, and become more accurate as they enrich their math experience. Students will come out of this course with a better mathematical foundation as they work together in small and large groups. This class will be taught via Zoom in the comfort of your home with large and small group instruction. (sample class structure below). After step by step instruction the students will work on a variety of projects and/or activities that incorporate a blend of in-class and out of class assignments. Small group/breakout rooms will be created to facilitate community connection, opportunity for participation, sense of adventure and fun. Students are expected to log into Zoom sessions daily. A geometric package of supplies will arrive at your home to provide the tools necessary for the student to complete the Math Facts Buster course.

  • Yoga for the Young Ones K-2 (T-Th)

    Cost: $115
    Yoga for the Young Ones offers movement and mindfulness for your little one. Through a combination of storytelling, stretching, mindful movement and breathing, this class is great for the young body, mind, and spirit. Each class will begin with "circle" sharing, will include a story that involves child participation and movement, and will end with Savasana- a restful time. Students are encouraged to bring a toy/stuffed animal to each class. Parents are welcome to join! This class will be taught over Zoom twice a week. No outside work will be required. Students are expected to show up in comfortable clothes for movement. Yoga mats are helpful but not required.
