Shively shatters league record

The cross country team has been working hard this season led by the efforts of senior Xian Shively. His hard work paid off last weekend when they traveled to Pierce College to compete in the Prep League Cross Country Championships. Shively ran a tough race, constantly challenged by the top runner from crosstown rival Flintridge Prep, Evan Pattinelli. The two were neck and neck throughout the race, but it was Shively who dug deep and had a big surge of energy to push him up through the last 300 yards uphill. Shively not only took first in the Prep League beating Pattinelli by 0.07, he also broke the league record by 0.31 with a time of 14.47. This sets up the team well and puts Shively in a great position for the CIF-SS Division 5 prelims held at the Riverside City Cross Country Course on Nov. 11.
