Poly cross country runs for a cause

This Saturday, more than 50 members of the Poly community, including 26 runners from the cross country team ran in the ninth annual Homeboy Industries 5K through historic Downtown Los Angeles. Homeboy Industries provides hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of the community. Poly’s runners showed a strong finish. Senior Xian Shively won the race, and senior Sophie Schleifer and junior Vivian Wheeler tied for fastest females. The team used this fun opportunity to prepare themselves for the upcoming Prep League Cluster Meet this Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Crescenta Valley Park. Details can be found on Poly’s Athletic Calendar.
