Summer dead period for fall sports

As summer school is approaching its last week, many of Poly’s fall sports enter their CIF-mandated three week break called “dead week. The CIF summertime rule requires a three-week period of no practice and no training between the end of the school year and the start of the fall. During the dead period, only supervised weightlifting is permitted; no running or other type of conditioning is allowed. Poly’s football team started their first week of the dead period this week; girls volleyball starts theirs Monday. Boys and girls cross country opted for a dead period in the beginning of the summer, allowing for fall practices to start on Monday, July 24.
