Irwin finishes second in state finals

Junior Krystal Irwin traveled to Fresno to compete in the 2017 CIF State swimming and diving championships. She took the lead in the preliminary round and through the semifinals. Going into the finals, she had a score of 377.50 and an 8.45 lead over a contender from Menlo Atherton High School, Mia Paulsen. Although Irwin’s dives were more difficult, Paulsen was able to chip away at the lead. After the three dives in the final round, Irwin finished with a career high score of 527.90 and in second place by a margin of 1.65 points.
