Running into the finals

Members of the track and field team traveled this past weekend to Carpinteria to compete in the CIF-SS Division 4 preliminaries. After a day of tight events, three Poly boys have qualified to advance to the finals. Senior Chris Mathews placed third in his 110 hurdles event, allowing him to advance. Sophomore Brendan Fong ran the fifth fastest time in the 400m race, punching his ticket to the finals. Junior Xian Shively had an amazing day on the track. He not only placed first in his heat for the 1600m but also in his heat in the 3200m race. These three will head to Norwalk this Saturday to run in the CIF finals.
