Track and field shows strong results at Maurice Green Invitational

On Saturday, Poly’s track and field team traveled to Oaks Christian to compete in the Maurice Green Invitational Track Meet. Overall the day was filled with good performances by the Panthers. Freshman Oge Ogbogu won the girls frosh/soph 200m. Freshman Jackson Treister also won in the frosh/soph boys long jump. Sophomore Ella Cornwell had an exceptional finish, placing first in the shot put and second in the discus throw. Cornwell had only three days of discus throw experience under her belt. Seniors Jeffrey Silver and Junior Xian Shively both PR’ed in the 3200m race. Shively placed third overall. Sophomores Brendan Fong and Justin Fong ran impressive races for the Varsity team and Brendan PR’ed in the 400m race. Junior Liam Rawlinson also had an impressive day throwing a new PR of 105” in the discus throw crushing his last record by approximately 20 inches.
