Girls water polo brings home the championship

On Saturday, the girls water polo team travelled to Irvine to complete in the CIF-SS Division 5 Playoff finals against the Saints from Xavier Prep. The Panthers were off to a slow start, falling behind 0-3 in the first quarter. However, after persistent efforts and great teamwork, the Panthers chipped away at the lead and forced a great momentum shift. The Panthers’ offense was led by freshman Talie Wilman who scored six of Poly’s ten goals. However, it was senior Colleen Woo who lead the team on both sides of the ball. Woo played exceptional defense and was the second top scorer of the game. Poly consistently put pressure on the Saints forcing numerous unforced errors that worked in their favor. After four quarters, the Panthers defeated the Saints 10-5 and brought home the title of CIF-SS Division 5 Champions. Congratulations to the girls water polo team.
